First Aid Kits and other Health Kits
Looking after your health whilst travelling and volunteering abroad should be one of your primary concerns. Aside from making sure you have adequate medical insurance and access to clean water, you must be prepared for those small medical emergencies that coud happen anytime and anywhere.
When you are travelling in remote areas in particular there may not be immediate access to any decent medical treatment so it is very important you carry a good first aid kit around with you just in case you might need it. Hopefully you wont ever need to use it, but it is always best to be prepared. It is also recommended to carry a first aid kit which contains a sterile needle and syringe, especially if you are travelling to countries or areas with very basic medical facilities, where you can ask them to use your equipment. Whilst it may be very unlikely you will need sterile instruments, it is without doubt best to be fully prepared for the worst case scenario, and ensure you have the right equipment to look after yourself.
For some longer volunteer and travel trips you may want to consider taking a dental health kit too for any dental emergencies you may have. Nevertheless, it is advisable to have a dental check-up before you leave on your trip.
Please find listed below some of our recommended first aid kits and a dental kit that you should consider taking with you on your trip of a lifetime.
